|The Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA) enthusiastically announces its exciting activities for its latest installment of Day Out In Downtown.
This fun-filled, midday event that features activities geared towards the community’s older population is slated for Tuesday, May 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three downtown locations.
The day’s activities will begin at The History Center in Tompkins County, 401 E. State St., where guests will receive a guided tour of the current exhibit Altered & Preserved Landscapes. Tompkins Cortland Community Colleges students curated this magnificent display which includes a series of images that showcase the county’s historic landscapes as they appeared throughout many decades.
Following this informative activity, attendees will then get to unwind and socialize while they satisfy their taste buds with a special lunch at noon at Sahara Mediterranean Restaurant, 118 North Aurora St., on downtown’s Restaurant Row. Day Out guests will have their choice of a freshly made beef or lamb gyro sandwich and a soft drink for the special price of $10!
After lunch, at 1 p.m., participants may then walk over to SewGreen, 112 N. Cayuga St., where business founder Wendy Skinner will offer an informative chat about her business, Green Elaine, the Sewing Machine Repair Shop, and more. Plus, guests who share a personal sewing story will receive a special gift!
Those who are interested in Day Out in Downtown are welcome to attend one, two, or all three of these fantastic activities. Valet parking will be available at Ithaca Marriott. Simply pull your vehicle up to the hotel curb and an attendant will assist you. The fee for this service is $3 per hour.
