On Monday, September 28, 2015, the Downtown Ithaca Alliance and City of Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick will welcome two new businesses to downtown Ithaca.
At 2:00 PM, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for Thrive Ethical Fashion at 112 North Cayuga Street (in the Clinton House, within the storefront network of SewGreen). According to proprietor Draya Koschmann, “Thrive is a mission-driven boutique specializing in ethically produced and sustainable women’s fashion and accessories. Thrive will showcase our own handmade jewelry line, Draya Designs, as well as work of several local and national designers, including Olivia Royale of the Art and Found, Blue Canoe Organics, Winter Water Factory, and Citizens of Humanity. Our mission is to support independent designer/makers while contributing to the thriving retail atmosphere of Ithaca’s pedestrian core.”
At 2:15 PM, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for Ithaca Sheepskin at 134 The Commons (next to Cellar d’Or). According to proprietors Mark and Jessica Leonard, “We’ve been busy traveling to craft shows and we were constantly being asked if Ithaca Sheepskin would come back to town, so we decided to put it right in the heart of Ithaca. Sometimes you may have to ring the doorbell to summon us from the back workshop where we make the rugs, slippers, coats, and hats you are admiring, but we’ll reward your patience with the perfect item to meet your needs and warm your heart!”
All of Downtown Ithaca’s ribbon cuttings are free and open to the public and members of the press.
